I recently heard a message from Rick Warren about one of the three times Paul became shipwrecked. We see in Acts 27:10-11 Paul said to the 260 men on the ship, ”I can see that our voyage is going to be disastrous and bring great loss to ship and cargo, and to our own lives also. But the centurion, instead of listening to what Paul said, followed the advice of the pilot and of the owner of the ship”.
Paul was told by God not to proceed on this journey at this time, but the pilot and owner of the ship were the “experts” and said they would be fine. As we read further in Acts, the ship became torn apart, and all of the cargo was lost. However, Paul and all of the 260 men did not even lose a hair on their heads.
So I ask you to think about a time when God revealed a plan or nudge on your heart but an expert, or even pride, told you should do something different. As we read in Acts, this can sometimes lead to a shipwreck-type situation in our lives.
So if you are feeling stress from being torn between what the experts say and what God is asking of you, follow our Lord as His path will always lead us to safe passage and peace.
We read in Philippians:
I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:13 NIV)
My prayer for you is that you trust and follow the Lord and that you find peace knowing that He is with you. Only God can guide us with a safe passage and allow us to have peace during the journey that He is leading us on.
