I have been in the book of Romans and felt encouraged by how Paul stepped out to share his faith in the early days of the church.
Last week during our staff meeting, about 40 of us were going around the room and sharing words of inspiration we like and try to live by. Many folks took the movie/pop culture route.
Being near the end, I just could not pass up the opportunity to share a passage from the Bible. I said a quick prayer for protection and went to the book of Jeremiah:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)
The room went completely quiet and, for those who work in a large Fortune 500 corporation, God is not always welcomed. Then one person said that was really good and they needed to hear that. I later had seven people come up after the meeting and thank me for sharing this and that we needed more of God in our world.
I share this story that you may be encouraged and at the right time share your faith, your story and encourage others. Please remember, what Jesus told his disciples in Matthew 10:16: Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
My prayer for you comes from Romans:
The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. (Romans 13:12 NIV)
May you feel the Lord’s presence in the coming days to step out in faith to know and serve the Lord and be a light in the darkness.
